If you're a violin player, or a fan of orchestral music in general, you may have been interested in getting your hands on this. But I'll warn you: it's not easy finding out what this is. Hybrids Strings is one of the most well-known violins plugins for computer music production software. It's an electric violin Kontakt VST that has been used by some of the world's top composers and musicians in various genres including pop, film score, world fusion and more. It's also one of the most expensive VST instruments in the world. The developers, HybridMusic, have kept very quiet about this plugin ever since its release in 2005, for reasons which are not entirely clear to people outside the company. It remains a product shrouded in mystery. The only way to get hold of the instrument is by signing up for a three-year lease on it,...the lease is $15,000 per year ($4500 each year). This may be costly for some people but this plugin is worth it if you're looking for that great "orchestral" sound and many cellists and violinists agree. Hybrids Strings is made up of two full octaves (12 notes) of polyphonic, sampled violin strings which can be played together or individually. The samples are played at three speeds (slow, medium and fast), making it possible to change the pitch of whatever note you're playing without having to stop playing. This is an "instant" instrument, meaning that the whole range of notes is available instantly at any time - something that no other violin plugin has been able to do before. The user can also change the pitch of the strings without having to stop playing. The whole range of notes within the two octaves is orchestrated with an additional four violins, one cello, one bass, and seven percussion instruments. The NS-4 II is enhanced by the NS-BSS (Brass Strings), NS-BSW (Wood Strings), NS-BASS (Bass Strings) and NS-PAD (Pads) effects which change the pitch of strings. Also available are some high quality presets created by HybridMusic's own team of violinists and composers for this unique new violin plugin. These presets sound and respond like real orchestra and cello lines and can be played back as MIDI files.
